Really small helfrich firefish or purple firefish

Has anyone ever seen really small as in a inch or less? I have seen very small purple firefish. Looking for a few very small ones for my nano. Recently for the first time I saw some very small purple firefish at aquarium adventure in boilingbrook. Seems like it is easy to find very small blue tangs, that eventually get huge but hard to find some other types of fish when they are small.
 
remember small ones grow, so if they need to stay small because you have a very small nano it won't work out.

Helfrichis are always wild caught, and they are a deep water fishing - adding to the difficulty of their collection. I smallest I've seen them is about 1-1.25"
 
The helfrichi I bought was nearly 2" at purchase, and I thought that was small at the time. I have never seen a 1" firefish of any variety available at a LFS.
 
You can easily fit 2 Helfrichi in a tank down to 5g. They literally sit there and flick their dorsal fin all day. If I could catch the Helfrichi in my 75g it would be for sale. Beautiful but boring fish.

You must of gotten a dud. Haha. The ones I've had have been very active and play together.
 
Mine helfrichi is a little bit over inch and live in the same cave with firefish.

My purple firefish is a awesome. He is always out swimming and never gets scared and hides. He is around 2 1/2-3"

Talk about big firefish. ETR has a huge purple as well. I was like :blink: when I saw him. I have one too and it's not even close to his size. They are ok fish. They do get a bit boring at times and they are huge scary cats :vroam:(at least most of them) :haha:

If you DO end up catching it, let me know, Ill take the chance trying to pair it up with the one I have.

His beast of a firefish passed away :sad: but he bought my purple to replace it, hopefully this one lives to a ripe huge old age as the last.
