I have a waterbox 20 gallon cube and am impressed with the quality. Im very happy with it for the price. I dont own a red sea but the guys i know that have them really like them. i dont think you can go wrong. The advantage Red Sea has is they have been around a while. Waterbox is newer so there is not much history with them.

I REALLY want to set up ~ 150-180 gal reefer looked at a marineland 180 today, pretty nice, but the RIMLESS looks so much nicer
I'm a little worried abut building the red sea or waterbox cabinet.... they gotta hold up some serious weight !
I have seen plenty off Red Se review stuff, all good, but not much on Watwerbox

any further input would be appreciated

If your not using a canopy that covers the top of your tank, go rimless for sure. An exposed rimmed tank is fugly.

Regarding the stand, you can surely build something that will support for little money if you have a saw and a drill.

I like the look of the Red Sea tanks, but they seem $$$.

I don’t have any problem with salt creep on topless tanks, except for splashes.
