Reeflo Hammerhead Hybrid Gold, Impeller question

Question regarding my new Reeflo Hammerhead Gold Hybrid. Does the smaller impeller pump faster than the bigger one that came installed on the pump? I'm having issues where the water pumps into my 220 from the basement but stops before it goes into the overflows on the corners.

I figure the smaller impeller would move fast since its rotation would be shorter than the larger one. I've looked on Reeflo's site for the instructions/manual on it and it wasn't very helpful.
 
How much head is above the pump? You are using the pump to deliver water to 3 different tanks? A 220 and 2 corner tanks? If so, is there more head for the 2 corner tanks as compared to the 220?
 
Just the 220 only, about 6 ft or less to the first floor from the basement. then about 6ft to the far return and about 3ft to the closet return and about 3-4' up to the returns into the tank.
 
I really don't follow how you have it setup, sounds like the distances to the returns are unequal length and head.

You are at the upper reach of head for the pump and with the addition of the unequal head, the resistance of the far return may be diverting all the water to the close return.

If that doesn't fit the problem, might need a diagram of the return to be able to help better.
 
Sorry, I kept reading Dart when you are using hammerhead. Do you have any ball valves to equalize the head for the two different return lenghts?
 
I just have unions, no ball valves. I'm running 1.5" all the way up from the sump, pump, up till a 90 just below the bulkheads, converted to 1" with about 6" or less of 1" pipe going into the bulkheads. Oh yeah it has a T to split between the two bulkheads for the return and overflow.
 
Figured it out, it was pumping water too quickly and grabbing air then it would stop. I added more water in the sump and went up stairs to see what it was doing. Everything was working as it should. Except it was putting too much water in the tank. Going to get a ball valve to slow down the fill of the 220. Glad I unplugged the return pump in time before I had a flooded upstairs and my fiance's parents come back this Saturday, I would of been screwed! BEER TIME! lol
 
That is very interesting. I understood the problem all wrong. It looks like the pump is airlocking.

Have you tried making up a test piece of plumbing to bypass the DT, to take the output of the pump at your union and direct the pump output directly into into the top of the sump?

Make sure you put the ball valve on the output side. The pumps should never restricted on the input side.

i had the exact same problem with my pump , i have mine in the basement as well and feeding different tanks , trust me youll want to kee pthe bigger one on and restrict the return if needed , i changed to the smaller one and it was very little flow in the tank went back to the bigger one and it works beautiful ! i have the same pump
 
Right on, I'll test it out with the barracuda impeller. I just have the 220 on it. Then going to upgrade my powerheads in the tank for more flow. Went to the Rockford Reef Club meeting yesterday and Rod from Rod's Foods was there. He talked about a detritus trap tank, going to contact him to see if I could get one from him.
