Refugium

This is my first time installing a refugium into my system. I was wondering if it is proper to put the protein skimmer first or last into the system. My sump does have two filter socks to start out the process.

I like copepods to thrive in my refugium and make it back to display tank, so I have the filter socks then skimmer, then refugium, then return pump. your skimmer will suck up most of the copepods if you have it after the refugium.

Plus in last chamber you will get micro bubbles back in your tank (a no no)

I've always done it Drain-->Skimmer-->Fuge-->Return

Thats what I had planned......Filter Socks, Skimmer, Fuge, Return.....But I just wanted to make sure!

Another Refuge question.....Should I put some crushed coral or something in it? I was thinking of putting some live rock and I have Chaeto and Red Macro on order with some additional Pods to increase my population......Am I missing anything?

No crushed coral.... it's just a crap trap. make a deep sand bed and then make piles of live rock rubble for pods to reproduce in. They'll also take haven in any macroalgea as well.
