Did you use padding of some sort, or set the tank right on the stand. What are the pros and cons of each? thanks in advance.

PS i will be using this stand, (which im sure most of you have seen already)

Sidenote: nothing wrong using the search function. I just know the OP and I don't think you would have gotten anything from him :)
Carry on!

For rimless tank you need flat bottom all across the tank. I*used 3/4 plywood sheet and than 1/2 in. padding. You can use different materials ( foam, rubber, Styrofoam) . If you using rimless tank with bottom frame ( like DB tanks), you can use your stand the way it is now.

I have a DB tank and it just sits on top on the stand.

(And Happy 2000th Mark!) lol

Yes, with DB tanks this works fine. My tank is completely rimless so it needs support all the way across bottom. :)

You need support. Get a sheet of plywood and make top of it. I would also add couple of cross braces to be safe.

I used 1/2 in. Styrofoam from HD. Very cheap. Look at my build thread, you will see how I build my stand. You will get better idea. With rimless tanks you're better safe than sorry. :)
