You dont know what that 004 is. If your carbon filter is still good, then you atleast know its not chlorine. I guess 004 is better than using straight up tap water.

@cola thats what I was thinking but if its still bad then I dont want to use it.

@fwadiver I dont know how do I check that?

Sorry new to this RO/DI business...lol

Easy look at your resin... If it changed colors it needs to be replaced. Depending on how long you have the filters in use and how much water you make yearly replacements are wise

Any TDS reading > 000 means that either the DI resin is wearing out/depleted or your tap TDS is so high that the system cannot bring it down sufficiently. Option one is the likeliest. You can still use the water...and yes it's still far superior to tap water. However, I would obtain new DI resin and swap out the current as soon as possible. If this fails to bring your TDS to 000 then an additional stage in your RO/DI may be necessary or a new RO membrane is needed. How old is your system? Have you changed out filters yet? What is your tap water TDS? Answer these and I can help you more. PM if you like.

He may not have the color changing resin. The tap TDS, stages in his system, gph, and water pressure will also affect the life of the DI resin requiring more frequent filter/DI changes.

So I just got this unit off Craigslist. The guy told me they were new filters used only for one month. So I said hey let me try them n see what comes up. Thats what came out 004, now whwn I try just my tap its 35+.

Seeing that its coming out 004 I guess I need to change something the question is what.

Thx again!!!

Just get all new and replace them. This way you don't have a guessing game on which one to change out and you can start fresh. IMO.

if everything was new and used a little, but then taken down and stored wet it might be pretty nasty in there and the di is busting it's butt trying to get the tds down. It could also simply need new di. Without knowing for sure I'[d probably feel a lot better just getting a whole new filter kit from BRS and starting there. Getone one of Joe's group buys and the costs come down about 11% on the filter stuff. That way you really know where you are starting and you aren't spending more chasing a problem and buying everything separately.

Hold on city tap water especially in logan sqaure is 140-150 ppm/TDS. check your meter. I woud agree with everyone else. you should just replace all the filters. sediment nd carbon should be chnged every 6months, and if you test out of your ro and its above 2 i would change or plan on changing the Ro membrane. While ordering new filters save yourself some trouble and get a di add on, or a canister, refillable di cartrage and some DI resin. Those horizontal di's can channel and not be efficicient, ie suck big time. I can help im in logan square too.

Resin looks fried mine is colorchanging from gree to your color ive also seen blue. But even if its not color changing ive never seen it in that color except for when mine is dead

that di resin is toast should be blue not brown, you likely have high tds coming from tap, ro membrane takes it down a percentage but high in means higher out, which will deplete di faster

Careful buyingcwater from lfs your .004 probably better then mist lfs water

Yup the di resin is used up. Noticed that first in the pic . The first stage sediment filter is a bit brown but usable. I go threw resin like crazy because my tap water is so bad. Reads any where from 500-600 ppm going in. I added an extra sediment filter and a second di stage . Still go threw quit a bit of resin. Ill get maybe 50 to 75 gallons out of it before I need to replace at least the first canister.
