Ro filter question

So I got what I believe to be ro unit from skunkerx for cheap. Thanks again. It's a watts premier ultra5 I think I don't know how many gallons it does per day but I had some questions. I know he told me the filters and membrane aren't so old but id like to ready when I'm ready to replace. What kind of filters are they and what do you guys recommend? How often changed? Thanks in advance to everyone.

You can buy a cheap TDS (total dissolved solids) meter for about 15$ it will tell you when you need to change your filters. Efficiency of the filters has a lot to do with how much/frequently you are using the system, water pressure, and quality of tap water. There is also flushing systems that can prolong the life of your membranes.

I am not sure about specifics but it is my understanding that micron filters need replaced more often than the other parts. About once a year~ish... again your TDS meter will tell you. 0 is ideal. 1~5 is low. A reading above that you should probably change your filters.
 
Wow skunker you did hook me up on that price lol. Thanks a lot for the info both of you. I'm going to order the meter to see if they need replacing.

Do filters have to be specific to that ro unit or will they all fit?
