RODI pressure

So, after getting sick of buying like 5 gallons of water a week from the store, I finally got a rodi unit and installed it under my bathroom sink. I got a 90gpd 4 stage unit from spectrapure, however it is hardly producing any water. The pressure gauge is reading just under 40psi. Do I need a booster pump? Is there anything else that can be causing this?

The input pressure is important on a rodi system, Mine runs about 40psi and i get 10 gallons a day out of it. The system is made to run @ a higher pressure and will not produce without it. I really don't think any of them put out what they say and they should come with the pump automatically because Ive never seen any city water pressure @ above 40 psi.

I had to turn a valve i thought was in the on position and input psi shot up to 54 psi immediatetly. Now my 5 satge rodi works great!!!

i had the same problem since the water comes out at 34 psi at my place. after buying a booster pump, i have it set to 80 psi and im easily making 30 gallons or so in a few hours.

imo, a booster pump is worth it.

Definetly get a booster pump.

Back when I first bought mine, for a few weeks I tried using my spectrapure maxcap 90 5-stage with no pump at 35 psi. It was horribly slow, not to mention the RO membrane works best at 80-100 PSI. You are hurting the life of the RO membrane, which is losing you money when you have to replace it.

Simple addition of spectrapure's booster pump, and bam. Perfect 95 psi.

Works much better IMO. Well worth the money.

Great, now I need to get a booster pump! My water general 6 stage 100GPD unit is making just under 50GPD....looks like booster pump needs to be added to the wish list!

I guess im just lucky, the water main for my building is in my garage, I just tapped into one of the branches coming off the main to one of the units and get 57psi right out of that connection. Under 40 psi sounds low thou, is it plumbed in before or after the throttle valve for your faucet line? If it is after that valve, the valve itself could be physically limiting the pressure going to your filter system.
