I am thinking of getting an RODI unit finally for the bigger tank once its setup as a reef. I wanted recommendations on which one is good and also isn't too expensive. I trying to find something on brs since I am going to be ordering a couple more things from there anyways but if not, any other site is fine too. I have no clue on how to set it up also but I guess I will cross that bridge when we get there lol

Stupid question but can I use those tap water filters instead? I know it won't be as good as the RODI units but will that be better then using tap water unfiltered or no?

I will with the brs unit then! But is there a big difference between the 4 stage and 5 stage? There is a 40$ difference on brs for them and is that difference worth it?
 
What is the difference between this and the brs brands? Does this come with the tds meter? Are you seeing any phosphates in your tank or crazy algae growth with the ebay unit?

I wouldn't mind saving money and buying that unit if it works the same as the brs units. :)
 
Haven't checked tds in while. Minimal algae growth. There are some phos. I'll try to test water later tonight.
 
Does anyone know if BRS offers discounts to RC or R2R members? I am going to be ordering a lot soon and would be nice if they offered a discount of some sort to save me some money.
 
You're better off getting preferred status, which you get automatically from participating in a group buy, then you get better pricing. There were several people looking to start one.

oh ok. I think I might start one then for my area. How much of a difference in pricing do we get from a group buy?
 
I've had rodi set up since like march and the tds is 2. I also make 5 gal at a time and let it sit till I need to add it to the tank. The water that has been sitting for a week or so is reading 14 tds.

isn't that a big too high for tds reading for rodi water? Shouldn't it be close to 0?
 
Water right out the system is 2. Water that had sat for about week is little over 10. Lps and softies and zoas and inverts and fish are doing good. Back side of tank glass I haven't scrapped off in months and don't have algae growth. Doing good for me no sense in messing with it. Just my .02
