Should I be worried

A while back I did a tank upgrade with all the same live stock into another tank. A little much smaller one. Ever since that which was like 8 months ago, my toadstool has never been to fully open. I've been keeping up with water changes and dosing. every thing in the tank is looking great (spa, lps, zoas) but the toadstool that's that opening all the way. sometimes during the middle of the day I will see very very small polyp extension, like they are nearly coming out the skin.. the other day I thought it died and was on the process on decaying when later on in the day it just stood right up. I'm thinking whether this piece is a lost cause and should throw out before it does any real damage to the tank. I've healed corals before but this one is taking too long.

They do that sometimes can be a flow or light issue try dif placement might shed on you to . I wouldnt worry definitly no where near dead when they shrivel up like prune then u worry .

Dude they do that, they are little bastards. Mine has been totally fine for about a year. the past two weeks it has only been poking its polyps out maybe a quarter inch. It may be trying to shed as Joe said. I use my hand and "rough" it up a bit to help the shedding process

i moved back in july and had to move all my tanks. most corals did fine during the transfer. the only one was my toadstool. his polyps didn't extend as much as before. putting the rocks back in the exact spot they were before the move was hard since they are all about the same medium size. i did the best i could. i probably changed the overall flow in my tank somehow. toadstools are very hardy corals. i moved mine last week hoping it will bounce back. i would not worry too much and give it some time.

Good luck bro. I just had mine the same way. About two weeks closed up completely, sometimes a little glimmer of a polyp but not really. I moved it lower in my tank with more flow less intense lighting, and tada he shed. Now he's perkier than before
