skimmer ? before I buy it

So ive never bought a new skimmer and I was just wondering if this skimmer is really as good as other people say it its. or if theres another one I should be looking at other than this one. I dont have 250-300 for a skimmer and thats the main reason im going with this one. my tank is a 55 gal with 30 gal long sump but I already have a 75 im upgrading to when I move. This is the skimmer that I want.

There were rave reviews for the smaller version(s) of this skimmer. Idk how this one faired though. I think there should still be some threads on it. Maybe search "ebay skimmer".
 
One of the most important purchases for reef tank is good skimmer. I see many people making a mistake and trying to save money by buying cheap unknown brand just to regret later and spend more $$$ in long term. I would suggest looking for sale threads on various reef forums and get a used one but known brand of skimmer. I've seen many good ones that will fit your system for around $150-200.
 
yea skullv did a nice write up on the SC-65 and said the 302 was a better buy than the 303 but he never owned the 302. more just wondering if this is a great buy or if there is another cone skimmer thats better for the price or a little more. I would like to order one tonight because my little one is garbage
 
his review makes it sound great but maybe there something new that hit the market that im not seeing so I figured I would ask
 
I own the sc-65 and it works good I get good skimmate but I cant compare it to the expensive skimmer as I never owned one. For the money this thing works great. I have been running it for about 5 months or so. lmk if you have any questions.
 
I have it too. I did the easy mod and I have been very happy with the performance. I don't have anything more expensive to compare it to either but it definitely skims nasty stuff.

thanks everyone. I just found the longest thread on this skimmer and most people seem happy with it. the ones that are having problems got it broken and the seller I guess is hard to work with. Im worried about buying a used one due to the pump going bad or being bad. I kinda just wanted reasurance before I bought it lol. Im going to wait a few hours before I order to see if anyone does post another new one thats better. Im going to be up for the midnight release of halo anyways :)
 
My air inlet broke recently or just came undone and The seller sent me a new one a week later. So I never had any problems with them.
 
I have a 1 month old SC-302 for sale, its a great skimmer, only selling cause im leaving the hobby, pm me if interested
 
I have an AquaC Remora Pro which has been awesome. I know a few other people swear by them too.
