Skimmer Keeps Overflowing

So I've been running an Eshopps S-120 Cone Skimmer on my 75g tank for well over 6 months now. It's been running great. Get a nice dark skimmate that stinks up my bathroom for quite awhile when I empty it.

Anyway, for the last week or so, it's been overflowing, and no matter what I do, it won't stop. I've raised it up, I've opened the water outtake as much as possible, I gave it a quick clean over. I cleaned it about a month ago and had it sit in warm water with vinegar to clean it out.

Nothing in my tank has changed. The only thing was I added a new wrasse about 4-5 days ago, but the skimmer was already overflowing before that. Besides that, I haven't done anything differently in the tank.

Anyone have any ideas on what I could do?

...if you ceaned it a month ago. It might still need a new break in period. Skimmers do this often after cleaning. They have to break in.

More reason why i just whipe the collection cup/cone

I have Eshopps s-150 doing same thing.

when water level in my sump get higher.

also check you air intake silencer. sometime they have salt build up inside, so take it out and clean with water.

try and see without air intake silencer.

also when you clean it will take 24 hours

Mines done that to out of no where. Wake up in the morning and it's over flowing. I had to put a float switch in the cup. I never figured out why it would but it's been fine for now.

Where the intake for the water and air joins, sometimes works or filter feeders or just build up gets stuck. I take a pin and rustle it around the edges to clean it out once every fews months.

Yours may have had some build up and then it broke free (which means you would likely need to open the output more to keep it from overflowing)

Perhaps..

Mine also does go from dry to wet skimming. I typically don't adjust it too much as long as at the end of the week it is full!

Where the skimmer is in my sump, the water level stays the same all the time.

Today I took a toothpick and cleaned out the intake, and the air intake/silencer. It took me raising it to like 3-4 inches of water to keep it from overflowing, so I'm going to let it run like that for a little bit to see if it settles down.
