Hi guys,
Long time member of the other message board, now its time to post here also.
I am looking for new skimmer for my 50gal cadlights cube with their stock skimmer. I want to buy use black friday deals and sn143 is even cheaper than sn123.
But does it make any sense to have such a big skimmer in smaller tank? Is it going to skim constantly?
Cadlights skimmer is ok, but not great so I thought maybe I could change for something better.
Any suggestions would be great.
8 medium and smaller fish, zoas and lps, fully stocked.
thanks

It is a DC skimmer so you can turn the pump down. You should be fine. I plan to put one on my 65g

But which one to take? 123 or 143, is bigger always better in skimming? Somebody wrote somewhere that if the skimmer is too big it wont skim constantly.

I have always been told to by a skimmer that can at least handle double you water volume. To keep up with heavy bioloads

That's the rule of thumb I've always gone by also. Atleast double the water volume, especially for well stocked tank.

Thanks guys, ended up with Vertex Omega 180i... for my 100g FOWLR I am slowly setting up. Not enough money for two skimmers at once, need to wait for next Black Friday :)
