I am setting up a 300 gallon tank 400-450 total gallons. I am wondering how many fish are recommended for that volume. Also can I add more then 1 blue spot jaw fish? This tank will be a reef tank.

My personal opinion is is not a fish count its a fish poop count . It the size of fish and amount of food put in and pooped out .
Key is a balanced tank
Blue spot jawfish like cooler water and don't do well in reefs. They also burrow under rocks and can get crushed from cave ins.
Great looking fish but don't seem to last long term.
I have had at least 3 never again

I had one for 2 years then he jumped. Tried twice more and they jumped as well. This new tank is sealed so I wanted to try again. I agree with poop count. What I should have asked is how many inches of fish is acceptable.

This is what I'm adding for sure because I already name them.

2- 3" yellow tzngs
1-5" melanuras
2- 2" cromis
3-2" Panama cardinal
1 snowflake 2"
1- 4" bicolor blenny
Golden tail moray 1'

I would like yo add
6 anthias
7 cromis
1 Purple tang
2 jaw fish
3 leopard wrasse
Large angel
Most likely a few others
