Sump for 40 breeder?

I need ideas for a sump on my 40 breeder. It is not reef ready so I assume I need an overflow box. I am clueless when it comes to diy sumps. Does anyone know of a setup that would work? Do they come pretty much plug and play? I would also be willing to pay for someones expertise in building me a sump. Thanks in advance for everyones help.

It is not the most difficult thing to do, i would not do an overflow box, try having someone drill your tank and build an overflow box. Im not sure if he is here but in the cmas section on rc there is a guy who does this for anyone that asks and does a great job. A 20 gallon long works great as a sump, i built one before using acrylic for baffles. Just take into consideration the area you will need for your skimmer and if you want to have a fuge somewhere in there. I did not do a fuge, so i just had the skimmer section and the return. Im in elmwood park and i can always help with the building of the sump.

Have someone drill your tank. Hang on overflows can fail and cause a bad overflow.
Measure the inside of your tank and find out how big of a foot print your skimmer needs.
You can buy acrylic baffles from tapplastics.com as long as you have measurements. make sure they are atleast 1/4" thick, if they are too think they will bend with waterflow and end up coming off even with silicone seal.
Buy a reef safe big tube of silicone sealant (100% silicone and NOT mold resistant).
Watch a youtube video of DIY refugium sump, or check out melevsreef.com for sump DIY designs.

I would also drill instead of using an overflow. As for the sump, you can get one custom made by Anthony of Nano Sea Creations. He is local, does excellent work, and offers very reasonable prices. I love mine.

+1 on drilling. For the sump, buy a glass tank. get baffles cut to order at a glass shop and silicone them in. It's really simple and easy to do.

sorry to go a little off topic but does Anthony build custom tanks as well?
