SWC 200 pump problem

I'm new, usually post at RC, but U know the issues... I got this new in 2006(SWC 200). Great skimmer, but about to go on 3rd pump. Here in lies my issues. I also run a CNC 125 on an old non RR 120. Runs a PSK 2500... Do I try to mod a new pump to the SWC, or get the same old pump(PSK2500) at BRS for $86(I have everything to make it fit to the SWC direct). Suggestions for a replacement pump?

The CNC came with 2 PSK's so both were used. I'm just not gonna mess with a skimmer for an hour + to get it runnin. I run Red Demon wheels on both. The pump on the CNC still rolls, barring an occasional blow. Both are shut down for H2O changes only, and I can keep the SWC running if I plug into a different strip, as I just turn it down when I empty the cup....But the BLOW or Turn is not workin anymore.......

What U folks think......PSK 2500, PSK 1000, BB 3000, or Askoll 1500?

The BB 3000 would work. The Askoll 1500 is to big for that skimmer, unless you get a extended neck collection cup for it.

Idk man I have the swc 160 extreme and it used the psk 2500 also. And that pump Sucks. Every time the pump goes off even for a second, when the pump turns on I have to lift it out of the water to get it going. If not it grinds and knocks hard. I know one day I'll loose power and it will knock its self all apart and that will be it. I'll be getting a reef octopus with the bubble blaster. Awesome pumps andmy ffavorite skimmer

Dont have the room for the extended cup. The psk 1000 looks to be an easy mod to fit. I wonder if the bb3000 would be easy also and how much more footprint it would take? Also anybody know the water level for a bb3000? I'm at 8.5" now.

Well after some research.....I'm about to flip a coin =). PSK 2500 for $86, PSK1000 for $120(ready to go from avast...never ordered from them), or the BB3000 for $200(I should have just enough room in the sump).

If I didnt have the CNC125 for my other tank(Octo 800s is a clone to it), I would never consider the PSK2500. BUT when they are starting good, very good skimmer pump.

I can plug the SWC 200 direct and never shut it off if I want, but not my CNC 125 since its HOB(water changes).

Question is the performance..... Are either pumps gonna outperform the 2500? Looks like the GPH H2O is widely different...400-880, and the air draw is 30-40 for all. Well anyway gotta make a decision soon ....

Well thanks for the help....NOT =). J/K.... The specs told me the PSK1000 only hit 25 ish on air draw(on reef octo)? The BB3000 was run in 6" approx water. So I went with the psk2500 ......I'll be bit$hin at myself in a few years....I hope(a few years). Gonna go direct plug with it. Love moddin stuff, but gotta get it runnin, my lion and puffer need it =).

Nothing wrong with the PSK2500 pumps. It's just some of them have problems with restarting because of improper mesh modding or too large of pin impellers. When everything is done correctly I have never had a problem with a psk2500 restarting.

Instead of doing all that, just blow slowly into the air intake tube, it'll usually get the impeller to turn a little and it will restart. Is it mesh'ed or a large pin impeller ?
