I have a question. I'm fairly new to this hobby and was wondering if I put t5s on a 48x30 150gal would it be enough to support corals.

T5

I looking to buy a set up that has a 6 bulb t5 on a 150. I have been told 30" is to deep for corals with this light. Again thanks for the reply. It has two purple to white and two blue but their different colors of blue.

What are the dimensions of the 150? If it is greater than 18" wide I would look at an 8 bulb fixture over a 6 bulb. In a 30" deep tank you are going to want something with real individual parabolic reflectors.

Best option: ATI Powermodule
Then: ATI Sunpower
Then: TEK Elite

I'll know more tomorrow as far as I know it fits on a 90g stand so maybe it's 48x30x24?

Yep 48x24x30. In that case I would go with a 6 bulb ATI fixture if at all possible.

The TEX fixtures aren't bad either, but the lack of a fan (passive cooling) and the less than optimal Workhorse Ballasts really hurt them in PAR as compared to the ATI fixtures.

As a last resort a Nova Extreme PRO wouldn't be bad but you would likely only be able to keep SPS/Clams in the top 2/3 of the tank.

Looks like those are the right dimensions for 150.I don't think it will fit on 90g.stand,because 90g is 18" wide.On your tank I agree with SkullV ,go with ATI fixture, but I would get 8 bulbs if the tank is 24" wide. Those ATI will give you enough PAR to keep any corals you want.

+1 for ATI Powermodule... I would also recommend the 8 bulb. Call George at ReefGeek. They usually have factory seconds at a large discount and you can't even tell there are any flaws.

I have a TEK unit that has a couple fans. I had a hard time deciding between the TEK and the ATI but it really came down to the TEK having fixture legs and the ATI not having legs as hanging wasn't an option for me.
