I have a friend with a purple tang that won't eat suggestions anyone would be really appreciated he's a really nice fish

Putting him in a qt tank by himself, and constantly offering different varieties of food will give the tang the best chance imo. Once eating, and fattened up for a good month or so, put him back in the dt. Also maybe treat with prazi if internals are suspected.

Is it a new fish that was just introduced or and existing fish that just stopped eating. I've never had a problem getting tangs to eat, but it it's a new fish, I'd suspect disease.

Yea definitly seperate him from other fish if he has no visible signs of ich or anything try fw dip see if he has flukes if hes skinny maybe internals . Try some live foods brine black worms etc

he's had the fish for awhile just recently got over ich infestation was eating like a pig all along but then stopped suddenly been a week now not skinny though he is a fat boy

Did he try algae strips and flake food? Tangs like them better than frozen. Tangs should be fed algae strips at least 2-3x per week.

When my black tang was stressed out from moving systems he only ate flake and algae strips for a couple weeks.
