Tank upgrade - need help with new lighting MH/T5/LEDs?

So I contacted Orphek the other day inquiring on a custom array to add the UV bulbs and to make it more of a 20k instead of the advertised 16k temperature. They just got back to me tonight and can do a custom one, with shipping, cheaper than their lowest cost one retails for. Go figure! Turn around time us a week. Nino, I can't wait to test out yours to see if it'll work for my setup.

Fishbeard, thanks for the offer! I know if that t5 fixture was a 6 bulb instead if 4 it would have worked. I dont think 4 is enough for the light demands I need.

Wow, I should have ordered mine directly. I know they have a website being set up to buy direct, but it's not up yet. I'll let you know when I get the light.

sounds good. I'm going to see if I can get the cmas PAR meter too, so we can test out and plot what it's putting out.

Here is the new tank all cleaned up and ready!
70g Oceanic Tech from Carriegiesler. Thanks again Carriegiesler!

I'm thinking hanging an Orphek would be perfect for it if it meets/exceeds expectations.

I'm planning to peice everything together, plumb it, and have it running around fall/winter. I'll probably need some help plumbing it. :)

I'm about to bite the bullet on a 2x150w 4x39w T5 fixture... used for $250 (but new bulbs will run $200). I'm not sure that it's going to put out enough power to really keep my SPS colorful... I'm sure my LPS will do great tho.... I wish it was a 250w! but then I'd probably have heat issues.

What do you think? Do you think the extra 4-t5s will push enough light with the 150w MH to work?

advise please

This fixture might work if you keep your SPS in the upper area of your tank. You will have problem keeping purple and blue SPS with this fixture. Those needs very intense light to keep their colors. For any SPS closer to the bottom 150W MH don't have enough power for 24" deep tank.

Would a single 250w DE w 4x24w t5s be a better choice? Looking at the giessmann Infiniti. Would this one also give me enough usable high PAR on it's light spread on a 36" wide tank?
