Temperature to high

hey I have a 12g JBJ nano with power compact lighting upstairs in my room. The temperature of the tank gets up to 87 degrees! Anyody got any tips on how to bring the temperature down other than tearing it down and bringing it downstairs?

My tank got up to 86 a couple days ago... I opened up the lid with a fan blowing in its direction and came home to the tank back at normal temperature 78.

Opening the lid does make a huge difference.

I think he was looking for more long-term solutions, so the open top and the fans are definite necessary recommendations. The ice thing would only be temporary, unfortunately. I battled with high temps in my 12G when I ran a 150W MH, so I increased the surface agitation and cranked the AC more, hehe

def an emergency if your floating ice. but if your water is around 90, that sounds like an emergency.

I had the same issue, I opened the top and put a fan in there, it kept the temp where it needed to be.

Definitely had me worried all day though... Scared my FireFish would get tempted to go airborne!

Fans for the tank are a must in the summer .. Just watch bc your evap will be way quicker
