when calibrating pH probe on the RKE, make sure to let the 7.0 sit for a LONG time (like 20 mins or more) until you are sure that the input value no longer changes. (bouncing +/- 1 for at least 30 seconds is ok) And also let the 10.0 sit for about a minute longer after you think its done calibrating.

And on the RODI, make sure to tap in source water from a line that has no restrictions on it (tap into line BEFORE any adjusting valves) so you get the most pressure into the membrane. Run the DI out and fill a 5 gallon bucket and dispose of this DI water before you start to use the water for your tank.

Letting the probe sit in the solution that long during calibration will skew your results. Oxygen changes the ph of the solution in the sealed packet. If it takes any longer than 120 seconds for your probe to hit 7.0 there is a problem.

The RKE comes with bottles of calibration solution, not packets. The instructions I have say the probe will require 15+ minutes to calibrate 7.0 properly. I noticed it took longer than that for the numbers to stop drifting, about 20 or so. Unless DA has changed what they are packing with the probe to calibrate out of the box.

I would be interested to see that set of instructions. The new RKE instructions don't say anything about a time but do say that the number may never stabilize completely. 1 oz, 1 cup, 1 gallon, when you open a sealed container of liquid the pH shifts, generally pretty quickly.

According to the website the RKE comes with packets of calibration solution now anyway so anything longer than a couple minutes can skew results pretty heavily. This is of course depending on the extrinsic conditions of the room.

Apparently DA has switched over to including packets with the RKE now as well. Kinda crappy. If I can find the manual (was a printed pdf from DA) the instructions clearly included a comment to keep the probe submerged in the 7.0 bottle for at least 10 minutes before starting calibration, and to allow 5 minutes until the calibrating input stablilizes. In 3 separate instances I have noticed following this instruction, that about 20 minutes was required for the calibration to stabilize before locking in the first calibration point.

well it's working don't know how well but it's working I haven't messed with ph probe yet but I have everything else going just need to figure our the delay thing after a power outage on the flip side connected new ro and meter reads 0 out ..that's a good thing right tom will be the rest of the reef keeper and the doser oh and wire clean up had it organized and now they are everywhere again

Very nice !! I also won $225 on a pool, still trying to figure out how to spend it... I really really want a ro/di unit as well (Im hoping to win the one on 1reef) :)

yea I had plans to buy just that I have one but have no instructions no idea what pressure to use and to buy the parts rds meter and such I figured for the price get important stuff first the other stuff was all the wife tho I'll be doing dishes and watching stupid vampire warewolf movies for a while but sell worth it lol

If sparkly vampires = happy wife = more authorized reef goodies, I'd suffer thru sparkly vampire movies too! Way to take one for the team!
