Too clear water?

I'm thinking you were tumbling your carbon. The carbon grinds to dust. I use Seachem buffer. Just the same. You just have to use it. My tank doesn't fluctuate alk often. I do 20% water changes once or twice a week. Buffer if I don't get to change.

I switched to tropic marin salt..THATS whats making my water SO clear!! I removed everythg from sump except protein skimmer and return pump..refugium now has a DSB of Miracle Mud and chaeto algae..im gona run it like this for a couple of months and just do water changes and occasional coral feeding.

What corals do you have that require feeding?

So you think the tropic Marin salt is what is making your water so clear? How did you come up with that?

@eric..the tank looks likes its in HD!! Even when it's in just my Brute 40 gallon container new water has never looked so clear..I was shocked!
Usually my sterilizer and carbon give me that level with old salt...but TM by itself is giving my tank that crystal clear water.

@jason i feed my duncan, coco worm, trac, ananth, frog spawn, they all seem to do much better when i dose oyster lr rods food or liquid reef.

UV sterilizers strip water of common planktonic foods and bacteria. Often beneficial bacteria gets neutralized. IMO sterilizers are a fish only equipment. They kill too many planktonic foods that help keep your coral colorful.

i agree with this...you could be doing more harm than good in your situation.
