Trying to figure out what's on my montipora

I have a rainbow montipora and over the past two weeks it's developed a white part near the edge. It looks a little stringy but not like a web. I first thought it was vermetid snails but I don't think so it looks more like feathers than a web. I've had the coral for about 6 months and is growing fine. Today I noticed another spot and didn't see anything in the web that matched what I see. Here's a crappy picture that most likely won't help but what the heck.

Do you think I should dip it? The rock it's on is small for me to remove. I could even cut off that part that's white.

Thanks

could be predation, look out for monti nudis, look like fuzzy pieces of rice (click the banner in my sig to goto my build thread to see pics of them) if it is them you need to dip the montis in potassium permagnate and quarantine and leave tank without montis for an extended period of time, or do repeated weekly dips and toothbrush until they are all gone.

edit:

here are the pics

Thank you. Let me give that a try and see if anything comes off of it. I'll have to do weekly dips because I have only one tank setup right now.
