Uv light in reef tank

Hi everyone
I was looking for opinions on using a uv light in a reef tank, and also on running carbon and gfo in a reef tank. I have had my 180 gallon reef tank up for about two years now and have always ran a 36 watt uv sterilizer and also ran a carbon reactor and a gfo reactor. Until recently I have ran into more and more people who say they do not run any of the above three that I have mentioned, except in certain situations like a algae bloom. My corals look great but am I depriving them of any nutrients by running all three of the mentioned above at the same time.

What type of tank Sps Lps and yes you been going a little over kill, if you have ton of fish uv is good for disease control, gfo is good for phosphates and carbon for water clarity and toxins, i'm no expert but when I ran my close to 150 gallon full Sps tank I ran just a little bit of carbon and GFO and that was it keep the feeding light and you'll keep the phosphate under control. I tried running UV one time and see no big results.
