Dont you have to use some kind of ammonia source to begin a cycle if you do it naturally? I used some fish food to get mine going with my previous tank. Can always go with the instant cycles as well.
They sell ammonia at dollar general for well a dollar. Just get the non pine version. I think the company that makes it is pine Glo and they make two kinds. One with no dyes and one that smells like pine. Get the one without anything in it.
Dose ~ 4-5ppm ammonia and keep it there until it converts than do a massive wc at the end.
Dose ammonia again after wc and wait 24 hours if it converts than you are good. I usually do another water change and add a small amount of fauna.
