what are these

i just opened one of the aquaclear filters i have on my tank and noticed a lot of these little white/cottony sacks... they have little feelers like featather dusters but i know they are not.

any help would be appreciated.

Good guys. I dont mind these and the white dusters that are pretty much inevitable, but I HATE vermetid snails. After my first tank, all my tanks have been vermetid snail free.

They are gooey and when you have your hand blindly in the sump....EWWW I TOUCHED IT!!
