What do you dose?

I would like to start dosing and just got pump from China to try it out.

I was thinking of doing Calcium, Alkalinity, and Magnesium.

Would anyone do amino acids instead of Mg? or any other additive?

What brands do you use? BRS? Brightwell? Any others?

And how do you account for the "shake well before use?" Do I need to buy a small air pump?

Thank you in advance.

Yes I have been using it for almost 2 years now. It takes a little time to figure out what your tank needs but after that the brs Is a great bang for your buck. I would say the only thing cheaper would be doing some thing like puffer does and makes her own.

don't dose amino or nutrient based stuff unless you have an ULNS.

I use reef fusion for 2-part and vodka for carbon dosing.

ahh thanks for the heads up. and do you use a automatic doser?

randys two part DIY not BRS and vinegar for carbon dosing. Mag dosing manually. Add a Auto feeder for pellets, and a ATO = easy street.

Read a very interesting philosophy in Book Of Coral Propagation Vol. 1 Edition 2 by Anthony Calfo. He claims that in his years of aquarium experience that the best way of removing the need for supplementing the aquarium is too do frequent water changes and allow mineral/element rich water to do the job for you. Obviously this would require the use of salt that contains the stuff that you would otherwise dose for but I would have to say I am a supporter of this philosophy.
