Hmmm... I had those. I though they were just small aptasia. I wonder if that's why having the aptasia-eating filefish didn't get rid of them?

Hydroids. they aren't "bad", but they can become an issue if they are close to anything. Just one of those HHers that are ugly, most people kill them, but I wouldn't unless you see damage.

they are pretty close to the trumpet, if you start seeing any scarring, or they close up, kill them. (hydroids not the trumpet lol)

Comedians? You mean Gus trying to be funny again? Give him a break, he needs all the practice he can get... ;-)

Lmfao. I was being sarcastic.

I really do want to know how to get rid of these though. I have them in my tank, in a few different spots. They're not cute - and I'm pretty sure they're spreading.

If they are on a piece of rock you can easily remove from the tank, you can manually remove with a sharp blade to scrape them off the rock, take a little of the rock off with them, or just break a small piece of the rock off that contains them. Do this outside the tank and rinse off the rock with old tank water before putting the rock back in.

Alternately, replace the infested rock with a different piece of rock.

Is that the only way? Because they're on my BIGGEST piece of rock, which is the base for my whole structure. That I REALLY like. Lol. And it's all tacked together..

I've never had these,so i can't offer any good advise, maybe they have a natural predator?A crab or snail perhaps?

People have tried kalk paste but seems that it's not completely reliable, and still should be done outside the tank to not cause a major ph swing.

The few natural predators don't get down to the roots, they just graze on the exposed portion, which just grows back.
