What is up with my zoas?

Woke up to my zoas like this, pic is from midday.

All other zoas in the tank seem normal. This colony has done this once before when I used Posphate Sponge, took out the sponge the next day and turned down the lights to halfway and they made their way back. I have been dosing NoPox for the past 3 weeks to reduce my nitrates and phos slowly, not sure their is a correlation. Params in the tank are fine:

A/N/N-0/0/2.5
Ca-440
Alk-8.3
Phos--will check

Thoughts?

Only 2 clowns and a fire shrimp in the tank. Never seen the clowns get near them, and shrimp always hangs in the back.

Having more surface aggitation by aiming the ph's up can cause less light to penetrate. May be ur issue

I think some zoas just do that for no reason at all. They will be fine for months and then one day, they are closed and shrinking. I have some that do that too and later come back. It's very annoying but that is zoas for you lol. Try moving them down a little and dip them too in revive or Coral Rx to see if that helps.

+1 mine used to do that, but it has been a very long time since that happened to the degree in your picture. Never really knew the cause either, but i think it went away after adjusting flow & lowering my dosings of supplements(vitamin c and iodide)(possible cause too)

i think maybe it has to do with the "too much dosing" if nothing else has been changed; my guess is that your guess is correct.

maybe try lowering the nopox dosing.

I am going threw the same thing with my Frag tank. My Zoas weren't opening and some started to melt away... Comes to my attention that my water was to clean. Zoas and LPS like the dirty water Carbon can strip some of your nutrient from your water if not careful. I was running a dual GFO and Carbon reactor, since then I have taken out the Carbon and did a water change, also dose some Iodine to help out. Just my experience with this

I think my zoa problem came after i started using carbon also. I just took it out. Guess I'll have to wait and see but i lost like 75% of my zoas

New discovery:

I've never had it before so I don't know what it looks like exactly, but I think I have a patch of small aiptasia on the periphery of the zoo colony. Could this be the cause of the whole 80 polyp colony closing up?

It's a possibility, there might be some smaller ones "in" the colony itself. Sadly Im fighting with the little b@^$%#$ myself.
