Whats up with the sailfin?

So the wrasse has been beating him up I suspect. What's up with the face though? Is this part of the battle wounds or is it disease?

its the start of hole in the head usually cause by nutrition and water quality some think carbon can cause too
 
Head and lateral line erosion. Very common with tangs. Tends to only get worse, though I seem to recall Pufferpunk had some success treating with Vitamin C.
 
There is powdered medicine available that will help to replenish slime coat and kill parasites internally you soak it into you brine shrimp over night and feed it to your tangs a couple times a week
It will help heal already sick fish and act as a preventative in healthy fish especially tangs for aforementioned hole in the head and lateral line it's called metro + you can also soak the fish in it as a bath in bad cases

Yes, I did cure HLLE on my purple tang with VC dosing. But it does look as though he's being picked on by somebody. Have you witnessed the wrasse doing this?
 
I just recently had a thread up about this. I seen a Desjardini at my LFS that had Hole in the Head 10x worse than your guy. He was kept in a crappy tank with no live rock or proper nutrition he needed so i scooped him up in hopes of saving him. Sure enough 2 weeks later he is almost 100% and all his color came back and the lines are almost completly gone. Im sure it was a mixture of what i was feeding, my good quality water and huge reef for him to graze on. I would definitly try something different in his diet and stay away from the garbage food with no value like brine. I always give my tangs the Seaweed with Garlic and clip it to the glass. Try out something like that.
 
Dude get that fish out. Look at his fins. How can u leave him in there like that. If u were Locked in a prison cell getting ur *** kicked everyday I bet u would be susceptible to disease too. I hate this. That's a big tang and aggressive in their own right. Also my favorite tang. And to see one like that Sucks. What wrasse is whopping on him like that.
