Where to buy Plastic Egg Crate?

I actually found black mesh in the gardening section at home depot. I have a HUGE roll of it, as its made to mesh down landscaping.

If you want some, let me know I will give some to you.

I also used window screen framing to building a frame to put it in. This method doesn't block any light at all from getting to coral but prevents any jumpers.

The spacing of the mesh is about 1/4" x 1/4"

You should be careful about this stuff cause not all the "pond/garden" mesh you find will be small enough openings to keep fish in. The clear BRS stuff is what I used, and the window screen kits from ace hardware. They call "egg crate" light diffuser at lowes, that should help you find it. The black if you can get some looks better in your tank IMO, just doesn't stand out so much.

I stuck a penny on the top so you can see how small my holes are. I had bought some of the black mesh thinking I could use that but when I opened the package I saw that my jawfish, blenny and even my fat wrasses at the time could make a jump through it, if they really wanted too. (hope this helps). If I can DIY it anyone can hehehe

Don't use eggcrate over a reef. It will diffuse your light too much and may even leave shadows that look like the grid...

Hmm alright ... I was going to go w/ the egg crate because I can cut it exactly to what i need vs the mesh would have to be a rectangle. I have gear in my tank so like i said the back isnt a straight line, if I did the mesh screening there would be some openings between my skimmer, input/output tubes (fluval), etc. I guess I could cut out smaller separate pieces for those...
