I am looking for a place to buy a Berghia Nudibranch in order to rid my tank of it's newly found pest. this is the tanks only pest and I want it gone ASAP. please help
Eff berghias, they just end up in the drain or powerhead, what chu need is a badass 3W laser. Kill 'em with a death ray. You know its cool when you need eye protection.
For what it's worth...
Berghia Nudibranches work great at fighting the Aptasia anenome because that is their only food source. In my experience, and depending on tank size, you will need at least 4 for a water volume of under 20 gallons or 10+ for a water volume of around 100 gallons. The Berghia will hunt the anemone in groups and as the pests become more scarce you will need to help by placing the nudis near their food source before they die of starvation. Please note they are not a 100% solution and will not hunt every last anemone down. If you have just a handful of Aptasia (under 30) I do not recommend this method of removal. Other methods include frequent treatments of covering areas in kalk paste, expoxy, or physical removal of the rock.
I only have maybe 10 small ones. so small i am surprised that i even saw them. i will try the kalk paste. where do i get kalk past? or should i use small amounts of NAOH? which is the best method to use in a tank with sps to keep the ph stable?
I have an aptasia eating file you can borrow. He recently started nipping at zoas. Great solution if you are ZOA free. He did not touch palys just zoas
