White PVC versus Schedule 80 plumbing

Ok so I am ready to pipe my new pump and sump. Discovering schedule 80 stuff is hard to find (local hardware has some).

Is PVC ok or should we used the grey schedule 80? Why or why not?

Thanks

the sched 80 can handle more pressure than 40, but you don't need it at all. It is grey which may be less intrusive, however, you can paint your white sch40 PVC with Krylon Fusion and make it any color you want! Basically, sch80=more ecpensive and harder to find (the new Menards near Long Grove stocks all of it though)

The grey stuff is what they use to make under ground sprinkler systems with. It does handle more pressure and looks nice in the tank so I only used it for the return pipes that sit in the tank. The rest just use regular pvc. Menards has the grey stuff in the plumbing section and they are cheaper than Home Depot for the pvc. If you use any of the grey stuff you have to get the General Primer and Glue; the pvc glue/primer combo doesn't work. The general glue has a gold label.

I think you are talking about poly pipe or funny pipe. Sch 80 and 40 are identical other than wall thickness.
