So I bought this. I'm planning to dose, but I have a few questions. My tank has 8 gallons. That's volume after rock. @ 5ppm I should dose 151.36mg twice a day? Can I simply make a water bottle full and dose the percentage from there or does it have to be straight in tank. I don't know how to go about dosing .151mg. It seems like a tiny amount.

I've figure if I us a 20oz bottle ill be able to dose an ounce twice daily if I use 3 grams to mix. Am I making sense?

Do you have a skimmer on your tank ?? Just got to know we shouldn't dose this without using a skimmer
 
You cannot premix VC in water. It starts to break down as soon as it hits water/light/air.
This is why you should keep it in the closed container in the dark fridge, until you use it. it is completely broken down in water after 8 hours--hence the dosing 2x/day. You must not dose without a skimmer, unless you plan on doing regular water changes to the tank.

I add 1/2 of a 1/4 tsp to my 15g.
 
That will work. It's .05. Therefore ill do 1.5 salifert spoons twice a day. I'm mainly trying this out to help my skimmer and decrease waste. Some color will come after waste is taken care of.
 
I just purchased your recommended iherb product. I read this entire thread and pretty much get the jist of it. However my Alk is at about 10.5 right now. Should i drop that number to 8 and if so. Whats the best way to lower alk. I do weekly water changes of about 10 gallons on my 100g TOTAL system.
 
Been doing it for 5 years now. Here's my tank 3 years into dosing at 23ppm:

Great looking tank! Ive been dosing Vit C for last 2 years after following the 500 page threads on RC. I think it really helps my Zs/Ps !!! I picked up 3 frags of Magicians with 2 polyps each exactly one month ago yesterday. I now have 12 heads on one, 9 heads on another, and 5 on the third. The third one is on a plain square frag disc the other two are on oceans wonders frag rocks, so my thought was the rock allows easier mat contact/growth than flat disc.
 
I have dosed vodka before with so-so results. Not a huge amount of growth or color changes.

I just started vitamin C today. About a teaspoon for 210 gallons or so. I'll be sure to get some before pics
 
Every different carbon source feeds a different species of bacteria. I just dose VC because it also helps boost collagen production in cells.
 
OK. So it wouldn't cause problems if you dosed VC and another carbon source such as Vodka, Bio Pellets, etc?
