Will My Diamond Goby Survive?

I am questioning whether my 30 gallon tank is big enough for my diamond goby.

The sand is clean and he hides a lot when I enter the room.

I don't see him munching on sand a lot during the day. Most of the time he is under rocks in my tank. Although, he did make the entire sand bed yellow to white!

How can I make sure he is getting enough to eat and won't starve to death?

Any advice? I just got this goby about 1 week ago. At night he usually comes out and chills in the back of my tank, but leaves when I come close to the tank, back under the rocks.

What do you feed your goby? Does shrimp food work? Fish food?

Diamond gobies unfortunately are one of those fish that just seem to pass away in our hobby. I've heard of multiple stories with experience myself when one day they just wake up gone. I really hope he makes it for you as they are a wonderful fish but reality sometimes is reality. Keep an eye on him and feed the tank. He should be able to eat off of the food that is being left on the sand.

I have two in my tank. They eat anything I throw in the tank. They are really aggressive eaters and they are not shy. So I have never understood why people say they are hard to keep. I guess I am just lucky.

They never survived in my 125 for some reason. I have bought maybe 4 or 5 at different times and ended up loosing them all. Never actually found them in the tank and no bodies found outside the tank.

I've had similar experiences but with a smaller 75 gallon tank.

I agree, they are they are pretty aggressive eaters.

I only give a species 3 chances of survival in my tanks. Then I give up. That includes carpet surfers & corals.

Good number to try before giving up. I have tried other species more than 3 times but I'll limit it in the future.

Hmm, I thought I was the only one who kept losing them in my 75 fot no reason... I had one diamond and a pair of 2 spotgoby and none survivedmore than a fee months... No bodies... Always suspected my 6+ inch maximini carpet anemone

According to what I read, lack of food from sand bed is usually the problem they don't survive in the long run.

Maybe try only 1 goby next time for your 75 gallon tank.

Pair of 2 spot goby and a diamond goby sounds like a bit much.

Also, did the 2 spot gobies and diamond goby get along?

Opps, sorry. What i meant is after my diamond goby went missing, it was replaced with a paired pair of two spot gobies. Sorry about that.

And that's what i was thinking, the lack of food. I saw my diamond goby sometimes eat mysis tho. I loved the thing, kept my sand bed spotless
