wm mf 201 skimmer help

I have thw Warner marine mf 201 skimmer and having trouble dialing it in. I have it in 9" of water and I cant seem to figure out the best way to dial in the air check valve knob. I was advised to screw the knob in barely. I am getting clear skimmate with a lot of bubbles in the cup. any advice?
 
For wm201, 8" water depth, remove air adjusting screw and put back in 1/2 - 1 turn only to stay in threads. Open gate valve all the way up and turn on skimmer. Slowly close gate valve down until bubbles are just above the bayonette connection for the collection cup.

Just talked to him and he said sorry that he couldnt answer himself.. Issues!!!!!!!
