Would you buy a fish from a store that has another fish with ich?

Would you guys buy a fish from a store where one of the fishes in the other display tank has ich? The fish that I would like to purchase does not have ich, but my concern is that all the display tanks are connected together and the fish probably has been exposed to the ich. I am especially concerned because I am interested in purchasing a hippo tang which I know is prone to getting ich.

All fish stores have ich as far as I'm concerned. Its up to u to do a QT and treat fish u buy.
I would buy if I had a qt set up.

Agree with Nino. Up to you to qt no matter where you buy from. Just because you dont see any visible spots, does not mean that ich isnt present.

Yep agree with nino. most stores do run there tanks on one or two systems and u always find least one questionable fish . Without qt u taking risk even if u dont c a sick fish most also run meds in there systems .

agreed with folks above and i take it a step further . anything wet from another tank has the possibility to carry ich and or any other unwanted pest . seems extreme i know, but after dealing with so many set backs i trust nothing and no one . at the end of the day only one person can be blamed and thats me for taking the chance.

I think the other responses are right on, but to further the point. Don't think that the fish doesn't have ich... That would be a terrible assumption. Ich is frequently present w/o any symptoms. Don't make the mistake that so many of us made in the beginning... QT all new additions. If not, you're highly likely to get burned and realize how bad it sucks to see all your fish get sick and die...

Thanks guys for all the replies appreciate the information, I will QT the fish after I purchase it.

How old is your tank? If it's well established and your fish are healthy I wouldn't recomend QT for all new purchases. In this case however if you see sick fish in the system, take a pass. A QT tank can be a big stress, usually they are smaller tanks and water params can change quickly which can have grave consequences.
I don't QT and in 30+ years have never had an ich outbreak, that's not to say I haven't lost a few fish to Ich and the stress it causes, but I keep my fish healthy and my tanks equally so. Haven't had a new fish pass anything on to the other fish in my system. That's just my experiences and my opinion, not saying that it's the way to go, there are many paths to take. Some people lose healthy fish from the stress of a QT set up. Good luck either way.
What kind of fish were you looking at? Some are ich magnets like achilles and powder bues tags.
