This has all the markings of an Indo-Pacific, with the white tail and spots on the back, and Aussie's have a bright blue line under their pectoral fin from head to tail. Are you sure its Aussie?

The spot comes from being a juvenile (they all have it) and this is an old picture from when it was only about 3". At this time the tail fin was all white. It is now more translucent with red at the end of the tail fin as only an Aussie would have. Also the blue pinstripes explode now that the fish has grown a bit. These fish are not that striking as juveniles and don't get their bold colors until they are adults. I bought this from DD as Australian at the same time they were selling Indo-Pac's for half the price. I agree that pic looks like Indo-Pac, but the fish doesn't look like this anymore. It now looks like the Aussie in this picture (just not over-saturated ;) ) ... http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=15+1379+380&pcatid=380

Hey Walt..... My Golden is EXTREMELY shy. The rock in my tank provides a lot of caves and places to hide. He almost never comes out into the open. I believe he is eating.... but I have not seen him eat... I have seen him pecking stiff off the bottom sides of the rock.... but cant tell if he is eating or not...

Do your Goldens act like this?

Yes, they are VERY secretive. Expect him to be shy for at least the first few weeks. Both of mine eventually started coming out more after while, but they will always hug the rocks.

Yea I was surprised. I know at new fish he was eating frozen but when I got him home and feed the tank sum pellets he was going crazy for them also. He is a kool fish and always cruising around thru every hole in the rockwork.
