Regarding wrasse phases

Sorry if this question has already been answered, I really just don't know how to even search for it but...

I know all wrasses are born female and go through 2 phases - Initial and Terminal phase. If you get a wrasse in initial phase and there are no other wrasses available in the aquarium, can they turn supermale automatically or stay at initial phase, or what?

Or I guess the real question is, how do you make an initial phase wrasse into a terminal phase supermale? i suppose other wrasses have to be around for this wrasse to prohibit their "ascension" into becoming the dominant male?

I don't have enough exp to answer your question, but not all wrasse go through phases based on the two species I have. Borbanious and possum.

the one i'm looking at in particular is the vanuatu red tail flasher...they are rare (and expensive) and look gorgeous as a supermale but i can only find them in initial phase...so i'm not sure if it's worth the risk getting one in initial phase and hoping that they turn supermale

I was under the impression that you need more than one to become super male...not sure a lone specimen will become one. I'm no expert, so take it for what it's worth.

Lol thanks ive just owned alot of them and learned the hard way most my info. Turning reg male is like 50/50 in reality turning super male without a harlem of them might even cut down to 20 percent . At first when u were texting i thought u were asking about it just turning male . Glad u decided against to many nuce wrasses at that price that r nice without being super male
