What to do when your wife buys you a new tank?

This is my first thread and I hope to document the build of a new tank my wife bought me for my birthday.

Arriving today is a 46 gallon zero edge aquarium with sump and cabinet. This is a used tank so still needs a few components. I'm looking for some recommendations on a good, quiet return pump, skimmer and light. The rest of the kit I have.

I currently have a 29 gallon biocube that I've added a sump, AI Color LED's and skimmer to. This tank has been running for 3 years and is doing great. It was time to upgrade though.

Any advice out there is definitely appreciated.

Thanks,

Kyle

Welcome and congratulations on your new tank and great wife :) . First, take her some nice place for dinner.
What are you going to keep in your new tank as far as corals and fish?

Buy more corals of course. Lol.good luck

Awesome! Congrats on having the shared passion w/ your wife (if at least she supports the hobby). IMO the first thing you'll need to do is start a slush fund so she doesn't know how much this gift has really cost her. Ha ha. Can't wait to follow the build. You might also look at the Eheim compact+ 3000. It is super compact w/ adjustable flow.

Congratulations and welcome to the site....You have a great and supportive wife....for now, until she realizes you spend more time and money on the tank (lol, j/k). :)

She knows she just made a downpayment. Need to come up with a good aqua scape first, then some of my current tenants from the bc29 get to move. Mostly zoa's right now, some acropora, chalice and trumpets as well.

Thats an awesome wife you have there! Congrats.

I have some dry rock for trade/sale if your interested. Its about 15-20 lbs worth.

Lucky guy! +1 on the restaurant. And don't forget the chocolate lol.
I will be on the lookout for your thread. I am also working on a 33 zeroedge build.

Congrats on the new tank and great wife. Alot of people here run jebao pumps. Had mine for 2 weeks and it's super quiet. As far as skimmer I'd say biggest you have $$ for but I like reef octopus

Milhouse, got some pictures of the rock you have, where are you located?

I usually stick with mag drive or quiet one return pumps and also use a reef octopus skimmer. I'm parting out with my 90 gallon still have bunch of softies if your interested
