What type of Overflow Plumbing to use??

So I have previously always use HGB type overflows with great success but in researching bean animal I'm becoming more interested in that style of a full siphon and then remaining picked up by HGB or Durso style with an emergency backup.

In my next tank I have 4 holes which fit 1" bulk heads. I'd preferably like to use one of them for the return to keep plumbing clean but am open to suggestions.

Here is a picture so the standard bean animal will not work (holes drilled out the back instead of bottom) but this seems like an easy fix just running the pipes straight down, right??

You can still run bean animal on the back. Alot of people drill their tanks on the back for the bean animal. This is what im doing for my next tank

I'd rather use the holes existing on the bottom. See any issue with that?

Wasted in tank space. If you dont mind the big overflows then no. Personally id rather have a small overflow across the top

My overflow is built with glass and attaches to the outer silicone seam. I'm fine with it but I certainly see the benefit in drilling the back.

I think you should be able to fit everything in there to run the bean animal id use street elbows to reduce the amount of piping in the overflow
