New to dosing

I have a 40 gallon reef with mostly Euphyllia’s, zoa’s and softies and some other lps. I’m looking to start dosing and want to eventually start adding some sps like monti cap or birdsnest or acro’s. What’s the desired amount of cal/alk/mag that I should be reaching for? How do you determine that amount? Also anyone have any experience with the Jebao auto doser? I was looking at the GHL Doser too but for the price and options - the Jebao looks very similar. How’s the build and quality? Also I’m thinking if using BRS 2 part and magnesium- any opinions? Thanks a lot!

I would start with testing ur water. Do it a few days in a row to see what it corals are consuming. U may find that they are not using as much cal/alk as u think. Simple water changes may be enough to replenish them.
If that won't work, BRS had a reef calculator that would tell u roughly how much to add to raise from X to Y.
I use BRS mix and their 1.1 ml dosers. I'm adding roughly 25 ml of each per day spaced out over the entire day. I try to keep cal 400-450, alk 8.7-9.1, and mag 1300-1350 but don't chase the "perfect" numbers. Find a good range and keep them there. That's just where my tank seems to be happiest. Good luck!

So do you have 3 separate pumps? I like the BRS 1ml pumps but they’re only good for 1 chemical right? So if I wanted to dose Alk/Calc/Mag I’d need three desperate pumps right? Thanks a lot!

I been thinking of getting one of those too - good to know you’ve had long term luck with it! Thanks!

Yes they can only dose one additive. I have 2 controlled by digital timers. I manually add mag after evening feeding every night. I like them bc of the slow dose rate.
