Ten dollars and a trip to meet some great reefers! Some of which are in this forum....Not too bad!

Frag Swap or not, Huge blown up event or not! Choosing to buy a frag or sell them. I think the whole idea is getting lost in some emotions. We Chicago Reefs are a small but influential part to this whole hobby in the Chicago Land area. I say we put silly differences aside and come out to see whats new, add our two cents and have a good time!

I'm new to the hobby and never been to a show/frag swap before. How does the swap work? If I'm looking to buy frags, what do I need to bring? Will the vendors have everything to package the frags so I can get them home, or do I need to bring a bucket/etc?

Thanks!

Bring cash & a Styrofoam box or cooler (small lunch box will do it you're only buying a few items). They supply plastic bags.

I would suggest you bring your own little cooler. I keep mine in my trunk. You never know when a frag may fall into your lap.

And to answer the question, I just may be in attendance.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to try to make the event. If you see a clueless guy wandering around the frag tanks, say hello!

Really what is so much more?
4 guest speakers

Build-a-reef ball event

Large name vendors and coral resellers

Much larger raffle

People won't be canned in like sardines

Cars won't have to park on 59 if you show up more than 10 minutes late.

There are numerous pros to this event, and no valid cons to it since the club even made provisions to have a local frag swap section at the event. Will the next argument be circling back to the cost of those frag tables? This will just keep going on and on until people just accept the event and just enjoy it for what it is.

Cool... Thinking about doing the fragging workshop. I'm not involved in all the CMAS drama, but I think from what I've read about MACI it seems like a good deal: $18 for a fun day of reefing. Costs about that much to see a movie anymore.

Round Lake... Gurnee.... too far..? Hey guys this sounds like it is going to be a prety nice event. A days worth of reefing... Heck I travel pretty far and fairly regularly myself to go to places like MCF and ShoTank...and others. What is a little drive in the country to go to an event like this... and a frag swap.... and to support CMAS....

Sorry.... I am amazed when someone says an event like this... is too far away!!!! To each his own... but too far..?

Don't be amazed. "Too far" is a relative term. It is relative to whether or not the person in question feels it is worth the trip.
