I now have 2 mouths and 2 bumps. I'm running it centered about 18 inches from a mp40 on random. Mp40 set to lowest setting. Night mode on the mp40 might drop the speed even further.

And my temp has been 82-83 and I'm not running my skimmer. I feed spectrum everyday, and alternate reef chili and rods every other day.(days 2,4,6). I change my filter sock weekly. Water Change every 3 weeks of 13 gallons.

i agree. i had mine in high flow high light so now im going low and shaded just to see
Rob, stop moving it around so much! It will adapt to most placement. 9 days isn't that long. Maybe finding a final spot that is high light, but med flow. Message it slowly, play music in background and lite a candle. That's how I coaxed mine open.

I would expect the control polyp to win every time. You didn't have to acclimate.

Except my polyp was only in the tank for a day before fragging, the same as like 16 other polyps i fragged the same day. Its not like the colony was in my tank for a month before the contest started. I even started with a damaged polyp that i couldn't hand out, so explain that one... ;-)
