So about 8+ months ago I bought a porchupine puffer thinking I would have to replenish my shrimp and hermets often but to me it was worth it.. After 8 months, I still have 3 sexy shrimp, a coral banded shrimp, a fire red shrimp, and have barley had to top off the hermit crab supply. I do not have clams, but I did buy him some as a treat and he refused to eat it. He currently obsesses over krill and refuses to eat anything else.

Currently about 5"
Expercises his puffing skills often (usually see it about once a week)
Needs to be in a 150g + tank for future growth

I just wanted to guage the interest if anyone is in need of a reef safe puffer.

What other than krill has he been eating? Krill is like puffer-crack. Once they start eating that, they generally will refuse all other foods. This causes a severe vitamin deficiency, which results in deadly lockjaw.

Any suggestions on what else? Anything else I try to give him, he refuses. I guess I could not feed him krill for a day or two and try another clam.

I personally wouldnt feed goldfish. Try silversides, clams on a half shell. Anything with a vertebrae will help file those teeth some.

Jeni, i'm always amazed by how much you know about puffers. It really is amazing. Now i don't have a puffer so this is just me thinking out loud, if he soaked krill in something like selcon before he fed, would that make up for what vitamins are missing?

Got him on clam half shells and am feeding him one every 3 days or so with his favorite krill in between. Hopefully this helps!

I would discontinue krill altogether. Please try other options (posted in those linkes I offered you), they need a varied diet. Try soaking in garlic to enhance taste/appetite & also in Selcon & Vita-Chem.
