bottom dwellers dying ..

Both of those fish require mature, established systems. The scooter blenny eats pods, the diamond goby is a sand sifter.

Maybe due to ur tank not being mature enough..

Scooter blenny is like a mandarin goby eats mainly pods if u can't supply it with what it needs then they will die.. Getting them to eat frozen is tough but not impossible

Diamond goby might have been from not having enough sand to sift due to ur cyano or cause u have an over load of fish which is why ur ammonia is high..

Just keep up with water changes and keep ur ammonia in check

From I remember u have a nano correct? Keep ur ammonia low and u should be good hopefully

In your post you mention that you have diatoms or cyano bacteria or diatoms, how old is this system? That along with detectable ammonia may lead me to believe your tank is not mature enough for sifting gobies. Them guys need sand beds that are teeming with life.

parasites are also a possibility, how long did you have the guys in your aquarium and what kind of quarantine procedure do you use?

don't be so quick to throw in the towel, relax take a breath and ask yourself what you can do to make things better.

They are sand sifters. The sand needs ample bacteria for them to eat. A sand bed takes several months, like 6 or more, to mature. And, not sure if I mentioned, ammonia kills fish. How high was the level?

the tank is about 1 1/2 months old... but I thought the scooter... and the diamond goby eat food in the sand ... not pods .. I can guarantee I have no pods in my tank if that's the case that's the reason why... :( lfs lied to me ...

Always do research! Like Brian said how high is ur ammonia? A high ammonia will kill ur fishes

Cyano is toxic to fish if ingested, but likely your fellas did die of starvation. At a month and a half your tank is far from fully cycled or mature. What other livestock do you have? What size is ur tank and what are the rest of your parameters?

prolly a combo of the cyano toxin and the starvation... ( I feel bad and take full responsibility ... I believed both of them fish ate left over food in the tank ... the guy at beyond the reef in Schaumburg told me ... fukn liers... yea I said it ... trying to make a quick buck they tell everyone what ever to sell a fish ... bastards

Just to clarify: are you taking "full responsibility" or blaming a salesperson? Because that's a whole lotta libel, your tank is brand new, and ammonia kills fish. I'm sorry for your loss but if you had asked anyone on here about those fish specifically you would have been told to wait. You've never been afraid to ask a question. Why suddenly trust the LFS high school kid? Everyone knows I'm no tang police, but you could be damaging the livelihood of a local business owner with your previous statement. IMHO and all that.

Sorry for your loss man. I'm willing to bet it was a combo of ammonia, and starvation. Always do your research before you buy a fish. I NEVER go by what someone at a lfs tells me. I usually research what I want before I even go, and if something catches my eye while I'm there, I get on my phone and research it. This hobby definately is frustrating, but things will get better/easier with time. Don't give up dude! GL.

Lol have u met dave he wont be able to relax great guy but crazy bastard more crazy then me. Sorry dave u still my boy but u r nuts

Your tank is not mature enough to support these fish. Also, I am not sure if your tank has cycled yet, being it is only 6 weeks old. It seems like you have a lot of fish for a young tank. Go slow. Don't add anymore to your bioload for a while (maybe even months) to ensure "good bacteria" build up. Don't give up. Be patient as this is an enjoyable and rewarding hobby. :)

Lol if i got pissed at a store everytime i think they did something wrong id have no place to shop and have to get out hobby. I reasearch fish months before i buy. And i never buy the first day i see the fish i will put on hold and i watch it like a hawk for long time looking for any signs of something wrong. I make sure it eats at least frozen. And imake sure its not eating and just spitting out. U will learn eventually . And then u wont loose so many fish. I read lots of post of people looseing fish and 90% of the time its not the stores fault. Its the buyer . I dont even aclimate buy high mortality rate fish and still have better luck then most people on here with fish
