Curious if anyone has input if this will work?
The sump in discussion:
What I am interested in doing is adding a baffle plate that would basically flood the "wet/dry" section of the sump to just below where the filter pad rests near the top at the end of the unit, and running a grow light on the flooded area with chaeto at night after lights out.
I am running a Rio 2100 return, pumping something between 200 to 375 gph thru the sump. The "refuge" would have an area of like 8.5"x10"x4" of water volume, with a constant inflow from the skimmer zone of the sump.
Is this area too small to be effective, considering the amount of water that will flow thru such a small space every hour, or does this idea sound feasable and even worth spending the time and effort to make happen? I really dont want to change out the entire unit for a different setup, I will never get enough money selling the CPR unit to cover the costs of a new refugium tank, new skimmer and powerhead, etc..... especially since the CPR is doing its job well, just lacks a refuge area that I would like to add to it if possible.
