Gyre vs WAV

With those dimensions I'd run 150s for the extra width, maybe even offset on opposite sides of the tank.

There were major issues with the first batch of xf150s, with brittle power cords and vibration. They should have recalled them due to safety with the power cords but didn't. However, their customer service is good and the product is now solid with the improvements made. The xf130 was launched with the improvements out of the gate so I never had problems. I was a longtime vortech guy but not going back again. SPS love the broad, gentler flow and dont grow distorted due to hot spots of laminar or propeller flow.
Guess time to save for one of these bad boys for the 150

If you want to get the GYRE get the 150. I didn't like the 130 but was impressed with the 150's power on my buddies tank.

Now as for gyre.. I've owned it and seen locals have their pump break, malfunction out of no where. Some people swear by them and some people hate em. I'm one of those that hate em.

Anyways, as for the wav, not sure about them. Sounds like you don't care about having wires in your tank so why don't you look up tunzes? They're reliable, strong as hell, and have amazing customer service.

I think one of their models come with a rock you can add into your scape and make the pump hidden.. how cool is that?????

I ended up going with 1 mp-40 and 2 rw-8s for now, was worried that the WAV pumps would be too powerful for a cube tank, but I am still curious about them as well

I think you made a good move. I just had a random problem with 6 month old gyre, where one of the side broke from the driver for no apparent reason, so I may be switching back to mp's, never have an issue with them. You should review the less than simple cleaning recommendation for the gyre's, overly complicated, too many parts, pliers needed to pull plastic apart, never a good idea.

Havent cleaned them for what I have seen online looks easy to disasemble..flow is very good programing couldn't be easier if you are familiar with fusion

I like the Vortechs for ease of cleaning, wetside off, backup on and dirty wetside into vinegar solution over night, awesome. No cords to deal with, beautiful. Gyre's lots of parts.

I have 150g tall 48x24x30 and I have a xf130 placed at the very top of the side on high and two Rw8s, one Rw is placed on else mode at the other end facing the Gyre and the other Rw is behind the rock on w1 and half power to keep the dead spots to a min. The Grye is nice, moves a ton of water, hides easy, but wish it had an else mode the Rw's. The backward setting is useless. Would Ive of bought it new vs used???.. no.
