In past experiences, I have seen Rainfordi gobies eat red hair (and red slime). We have one in the trough for that reason....plus they are peaceful, look good, hardy, and inexpensive.

You can absolutely mix a watchman and rainfordi. They are both peaceful. Plus, the watchmen typically hangs out in the bottom while the rainfordi swims throughout and grazes.
