Introducing...Planet Zoa!

It's official, PZ is now a Chicago Reefs Sponsor. Some of you already know about this oddball zoa business, but for those who dont here's a primer.

Who- Travis. Age 34. Grew up in IL, went to ISU, moved back from AZ after 10 yrs. Wife. Kid. Zoa bizness. My background is in graphic design and healthcare. I've been zoa-obsessed for the last 3-4 years. Just ask my wife, she will tell you about all the times I've claimed to have palytoxin poisoning.

What- Planet Zoa boasts the largest selection of collector zoas/palys on the web. We are known for careful shipping practices, cool promotions, and a 7-day open polyp guarantee. I've collected somewhere in the ballpark of 300 morphs over the years, and have made many of them available to the public.

When- Originally started to fill demand from other hobbyists in Spring 2012, it quickly mutated into the zoa hungry beast that it is today.

Why- Basically, PZ is made by a collector, for the collector. It's very elite. When I frag, I stick my pinky out.

How- Many late nights! If you message me and I sound weird, Im not drunk, just sleep deprived!

Here's the exciting part...now that Im in Illinois, shipping is cheaper (to anywhere) and shipping in state is even cheaper still. So what would have cost $60 in Fedex charges before is now only $30. Enter the coupon code INSTATE to get $10 off shipping when you order.

Also, I often make trips upstate, so we can always set up some kind of shadowy, back alley exchange. It's just coral, Officer, I swear!

Im not set up as a retail walk-in (yet), so Planet Zoa HQ visits will require a vetting process and no selling can occur at my home for legal reasons.

For reading all of this, you get some eye candy-

Awesome and welcome aboard Travis.

so i assume all the selection on the site is available ??

Welcome - stoked to have PZ on board!!!

Haha for the comment of "officer, its only coral i swear!" -Myself (a privately contacted K9 Officer) and a Chicago PD Narcotics Detective have conducted several 'transactions' on the side of Lower Wacker in the City lol

Thanks for the warm greeting guys!

Here's how the Planet Zoa website works. There's a lot of ground to cover, so I've tried to break it down for ya:

CUT TO ORDER- Anything on the "Coral Collection" pages is cut-to-order. This means that the mother colony is fragged after you buy it, and the frag is healed for 2 weeks prior to shipping. Sounds like a big hassle, huh? Not for some of my serious collectors. They know what they want, and are willing to wait. This section is updated frequently. Out of stock items are taken off the site, which means at any given time there are about 100 or more zoa morphs "on grow out". I dont like to frag my mothers more than about once per month.

ZOAS ON DEMAND- For those who dont like to wait, I've set up an "On Demand" section. Everything here is "wysiwyg" and ready to ship. Frags vary in size and are typically not single polyp. Sometimes I'll throw up a mini colony or non-zoa just to keep things interesting.

BUILD-A-PACK- The best option for ordering a large number of frags. Make a "pack" of 4, 8, 12, or 30 "on demand" frags, and save up to 66 percent off. I would have loved this when I was a hobbyist. Can I trade places with one of you guys for awhile?

REGISTRATION- Last year we started this controversial requirement. In order to view the full collection, you must register an account. This turns away a few people, but it has been invaluable in reducing gawkers and international traffic. We do not intend to function as a Coralpedia for anonymous people, but registered members can enjoy looking at our broad selection and the upcoming zoanthid care pages. "On Demand" corals can be seen without registration.

SHIPPING- $40 for standard FedEx overnight, and $50 for priority. Enter the coupon code INSTATE to get the $10 shipping discount. Orders over $300 ship free!

TRADES- Trading is a great way to expand your collection on a budget. We are always looking to restock popular items, as well as bringing in new or ultra-rare varieties.

If we all GET some eye candy, should I just PM you the shipping address? LOL
Welcome aboard. I can't wait to go broke with you

I've already been investigated once in AZ. The blue light and overnight packages are a dead giveaway. To any criminals out there, a coral business is a terrible front for a drug operation. Although the light spill from my Radions could probably grow a decent crop. :)

when you live in a narco city that kinda thing tends to happen, now they would just think you are an old vet. every week there is a garage full of bud found. so I registerd to check the site and still could not see the zoas. only the ones you don't have to register to see.

Thanks for the feedback, 1mg.

Registrants need to be manually approved, so it usually takes an hour or two. After a thorough background check, then you are allowed in, lol. Just kidding about the last part.

Prices are competitive with other aquacultured zoa sites, but we certainly are not the Walmart of coral stores. Providing 100 percent aquacultured zoas gives you the piece of mind that a coral will grow in your tank, rather than something that is freshly imported, hacked from a rock, and sold immediately at a rock bottom price.

Thanks for checking out the site!
